Remix Culture

It was interesting to find out that the famous composer Bach often relied on recycling his own compositions or borrowing music from his predecessors or contemporaries. This was accepted in the 17th and 18th century but today would qualify as plagiarism under the copyright laws. If you listen to his music Bach was a master of recasting, merging burrowed materials with his own ideas to produce works rhythmically more exciting. Bach did not bring a new style, but was thought to enrich the music

  2. Before looking more closely at copyright laws, I assumed they were to solely to protect the creator. Over time they seem to have changed and are now more protective of big business interests.
